Let’s start with a particularly bad news, a server glitch occurred in the game and is preventing almost 1% of Runescape players to access their accounts. Worse the glitch has in some cases erased the save files of some of the victims, reverting their character to level 1. For a number of players, that means losing potentially years of efforts and grinding. For those who are new to the game, the Runescape experience involves an incredible amount of grinding whatever you are looking to achieve in the game.
This glitch happened a month ago and many players have yet to get the access to their accounts back. According to a redditor, the glitch was due to a server backup error by Jagex and players are furious because the British developer is clearly at fault for not performing the game’s data backup in a timely manner. Jagex is trying to save the situation by using telemetry data to salvage the accounts that have been affected, unfortunately it is a long and slow process and there are thousands of account waiting for their turn.
On a happier note for fans of the game, Jagex has teamed up with Dark Horse book in order to release an art book celebrating the game’s anniversary. The book, called RuneScape: The First 20 Years – An Illustrated History is a retrospective of the game’s evolution during its 20 years of existence. The book is going to feature behind-the-scenes pictures as well as developers’ interviews and commentary. The price is set at $39.99 for the hardcover version of the book and $99.99 for the deluxe edition that will only be available on the RuneScape Merch Store.
Lastly let’s discuss the latest new about the Once Upon A Time storyline. Named Flashback this adventure will let you travel to the past in order to prevent Relomia to rewrite the past of Gielinor. In order to foil that plot, players will have to relive three of the game’s past quests in order to correct the changes that Relomia made to original timeline. The reward for completing this quest is a Medium XP land and Closure’s Book.
